It is so easy to let the pictures speak for themselves but somewhere out there are some grandparents (and greats) who hardly ever get to see these cute babies...
So here are some words, too. We are busy. The Bird crawls and shouts and laughs and the Boy runs and jumps and tells stories with a mind that moves faster than his vocabulary and mouth. He still screams like the hounds of hell when you tell him no. We three bounce from one half-finished project to another all day, singing, arguing, yelling and napping. Once we even all slept at the same time. For about 20 minutes. It felt like four hours.
The boy can tell a chickadee from tufted titmouse and cardinal from a jaybird, he is sharp as a tack about everything. Nothing gets by him. A few days ago I was irritated with Kyle and said something like "it's best if you don't talk to me right now" and the next day the Boy said "mama, remember dada came home in truck and mama said dada don't talk mama right now?"
uh. yeah.
He lays down on the floor with the Bird, rolls dangerously close to her and says "my two babies!" with a smile that borders on mischief, then demonstrates crawling for her and hands her a toy ("here doe, Wenny-Wen")
The two babes get each other laughing so hard that there is a moment when their voices blend and I can't tell them apart... She has managed to pull the Boy's hair a few times. (I might take a little longer than necessary to free him) She is into everything and has started to vacuum the rug with her fingers...and so it has begun. The Bird is cute as can be.
I sure do like having both these babies. Below is a video of the busy babes doing their developmentally appropriate things. Right after this was shot she got ahold of the hammer and clocked herself good and hard on the head with it. Poor little thing. She is going to think the world is a mean mean place to be. Have I mentioned how cute she is?
