still here

but I have nothing to show you yet... it is this blasted internet, slow slow slow and rather difficult to secure on the farm in the country.
What is a gal to do without internet in the country? Here is your checklist.

Stick children in wagon, drag around farm, get in farmers way, take lots of pictures, check.

Become numb to red mud dirt clinging to, dusting and varnishing every surface in the house, check.

Get into the habit of brushing ladybugs off the bed, toilet seat, and water glasses before conducting any business with any of those things, check.

Familiarize self and family with THE MUDROOM. check.

Inoculate hands daily with soot from wood cookstove while starting fire for breakfast, check.

Learn to discern the cries of baby lambs from yelling of real children in distress at all hours of the day and night, check.

Use the discerning ears of three and a half year old Boy to tell the difference between talkative chicken and daughter waking up from her nap. check.

Become expert splinter remover, check.

Always always always watch where you step AND watch what children pick up off ground, poop is everywhere. Everywhere, everywhere. check.

Just for fun, don't tell visitors that the top wire is hot on the fence. This is especially satisfying when children are climbing the fence and you tell them not to and they do anyway but not as funny when your dad leans both his forearms across it to admire the pastoral scenery. (check.)

Make fun of the turkey who runs like a windmill when being chased back down the road to the farm. check.

Start reading something by Tolstoy, finally. check

Renew love for the simplicity of calling husband and asking him to bring dinner home. check.

Upload really cute pictures of everything next time. I promise.

Go to sleep to the sound of rain on a tin roof... right now.
