Harvesting potatoes with horses could be a... graceful experience. With the right tools, the right horse and a small army of little hands to pick em up it is smooth as can be. In the reality of this farm however, the handles of the tools haven't been replaced in, oh say, 50 years, they are about a foot too short and the horse that is really great with small garden work couldn't be caught that day so a touchy big ol guy was rigged up instead. The horse who likes to pull giant stones from mountains but maybe isn't the best at the subtleties of small gardens and short, slower runs.
